An interesting tale of war and betrayal.

Tobey Maguire goes from swinging from webs to being a war hero in "Brothers", a movie that portrays the ugliness that people like Tobey have deep inside.Maguire plays Capt. Sam Cahill, a war hero who's sent off to Afghanistan.His brother played by Jake Gyllenhaal just got released from prison and is trying to pull it all together.Sam's wife and kids later recieve news that Sam died, and they and his brother can't believe what has happened.What they don't know is that Sam has benn capturted along with Private Joe Willis.To avoid executiion, Sam is forced to kill Willis on camera, and the Military manags to rescue Sam, while the camera that recorded the execution is left burning all of the evidence.While Sam was away, his brother, Tommy, was comforting his wife and kids.Now that he's back, things are the way he wanted them to be, but he grows suspicious about Tommy and his wife played by Natalie Portman.He asks Tommy if he and his wife had sex.He says no, but Sam just can't believe it.What happens between Sam and his family is one of the best things that happen in this movie.

You have the story, so how are the actors? Are they good or bad? Jake Gyllenhaal is very good and Natalie Portman gives a strong performance, but nobody can possibly compare to Tobey here.He's a great actor in general with the "Spider-Man" movies, but this is the performance that we were waiting for all along.Maguire dominates the screen in the outbreak in the movie's climax, and it's one of the most crazy ones I have probably ever seen.Even those scenes in "Precious" where the character gets abused by her mother doesn't compare to this.Maybe some kids might be interested in the movie just because of Tobey, but this performance alone in this movie will make them look at the "Spider-Man" movies in a whole new way.It's a shame he wasn't nominated for the oscar, but what he did still captivated me when I saw it."Brothers" is a very good movie, but not great.The trailer made it look excellent but I only got a very well made picture instead of an excellent one.Still, it's a good movie with a stunning performance by Tobey and a story that keeps you interested from the beginning to the very end.
