Angelina Jolie doing what she does best...again.

What is there to NOT like about "Salt"? Really, I thought the movie was a lot of fun, so all you haters can go stick with your crappy action "movies" you call fun. The thing you gotta know about this film is that it defies logic any way it can. Jolies character steadily falls down elevator shafts one beam at a time and even jumps from truck to truck on a highway. It's amazing how she could possibly do this without being hurt, given that doing these types of things would usually injure or kill a human being.Yet, out of all the illogical action sequences lies a kind of fun that only director Phillip Noyce and Jolie could deliver. It's all ludicrous and ridiculous, but the movie knows how to combine "nearly impossible" and "serious" and make it into one of the funest combos since, well, any over-the-top movie that tries to take itself seriously at the same time.

Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent who is sent to interrogate a Russian defector who, after telling a story of how children would be kidnapped to be trained as spies, claims that Evelyn is a Russian spy herself. The film then turns into a chase movie as agents try to kidnap Salt before she ,at least what people think she will, kill the Russian president. The film shows some flashbacks explaining some of her backstor and how she met her future husband, about 1 or 2 of the flashbacks are un-needed while the rest are just ok.

"Salt" works very well as an action movie, but even better as an espionage thriller. There are times where you may wonder who Salt really is and if she really is the antagonist of the picture.None of this probably would've worked as well if Jolie wasn't cast as Evelyn. Not only is she stunningly sexy, but she knows how to act and deliver good dialogue when on the run by the people who she used to work with. With a quick running time of 100 minutes, "Salt" runs a fast and breezy pace that doesn't let up for a single minute.Well, I found some of the flashbacks showing her leading up to her future marriage to be slow and unnecessary, but then the movie gets back on it's feet and refuses to fall back down. With some great action scenes and a blisteringly entertaining role by Jolie, "Salt" is one hell of a fun ride.I can't guarantee that you'll like it if you haven't seen it yet, but if you don't take it too seriously without shutting your brain off completely, you'll probably like it.I know I did.

Grade: B+
