The Expendables

Stallone is back, and he's bringing some friends.

Fans of Stallone will most likely be wanting more by the time the end credits hit the screen.I mean that as a complament.I can't guarantee that everyone will like this movie. Not everybody in the world likes 1 movie.A lot of people loved "The Dark Knight", but does that mean everyone who saw it loved it? No.What I can promise is that "The Expendables" is a violent and mostly serious action movie that promises to deliver what you might expect from a movie directed and starring Sylvestor Stallone.Guess what? The movie does deliver. The movie itself is swollen in action, but there's also a story here. You see, there's a team of mercinaries called the Expendables. They are the best team of mercinaries that has ever walked the Earth. The only life they've ever known is war and the only loyalty they've had is each other.I actually took that from the trailer, oh well. The team is soon given a job that no other team could accept.Their mission: Take down a dictator. They accept the mission, only to find out that there's more than just the dictator to worry about.

As I've said, the movie is swollen in action. Most of it happens in the film's last 20-25 minutes. You get so much fighting, shooting, and explosions that it's impossible to ask for more of it.The action never wore me out and I was actually enjoying the non-stop mayhem.Stallone has given us a heavy-with-action movie that has some time to give us the story. The movie itself is 103 minutes yet it felt kinda short.Maybe I loved the action so much that I never wanted it to end.But it did.It always has to.Some people might look to this movie for a good story and nothing more. Those people will be sorely disapointed. There is a story, but it kinda feels drowned out by the blood-soaked carnage. It probably sounds like I'm complaining about it, but I'm not.I cherish the movie for being an ultra violent action movie that relys on long action scenes but manages to make time for plot. What else is there to say? "The Expendables" is heavy on action, not as heavy on plot, and REALLY heavy on entertainment.

Grade: A-
