They are... the Losers!

You know what I like about over-the-top action movies? They go extreme and sometimes impossible with their action sequences while we're also into the characters and story."The A-Team" and "Shoot Em Up" are two great examples of that. It's actually kinda sad to say that "The Losers" isn't the movie it was made out to be.It's over-the-top, but that's just about it.What about the characters? What about the story? The trailer makes it look like a comedy disguised as an action movie  yet I didn't laugh that much and I wasn't very thrilled by the action sequences even though they were well handled. As for the story, the movie is basically revolved around a CIA black ops team known as the Losers. They eventually get betrayed and framed by a man named Max.You can probably guess the rest of it.The movie centers on them trying to get revenge against Max, and what happens before then really doesn't grip on to you that well. The story is just a minor problem. What I really wanted was characters that I could care about. "The A-Team" did that with no problem but "the Losers" somehow forgets that over-the-top action movies need interesting people as much as action sequences that go beyond the boundaries of reality. The movie isn't even as over-the-top as you might expect.Trailers make certain movies look like that they're going to be crazy and fun, but instead it just falls dead on it's feat.I'm not saying at all that I hated "The Losers".I'm not saying that at all.The movie didn't bore me and one of it's saving graces managed to be the stunningly sexy Zoe Saldana from "Avatar" and "Death at a Funeral".Action movies like these almost always feature hot women, and Saldana alone proves that hot chicks can also be a tough fighter.Unfortunately, the movie is weighed down by people we don't care about and a story that's both familiar and somewhat dull.If you just need to see it, rent it from Redbox for a dollar instead of renting it from another store for 5-7 bucks or splurging 20 bucks to buy it.It's above mediocre, just don't expect a lot.
