Changeling

Is Jolie meant for these types of movies?
If you think Angelina Jolie-one of the sexiest and badass actresses in action movies-does not to deserve to act in dramas and should stick to action flicks, think again.I honestly think that Jolie should act in more movies like these. She's great in flicks like "Wanted" and "Salt", but this is where she sets the bar right. Here, she gives what may be her absolute best performance of her career. It's a performance so powerful and blistering that you can't help but feel sympathy for her character and everything she goes through. "Changeling" is not only brilliantly acted by Jolie, but also brilliantly directed by Clint Eastwood. While I personally find "Million Dollar Baby" to be his best film that I've seen so far, "Changeling" sets new standars in his career. It's twisted and disturbing, but mostly it's powerful and stunning to the point that you just admire Eastwood as a director because only he is capable of pulling off such a great film.Well, not just a great film, but great FILMS!
Based on a true story, "Changeling" tells an amazing and important tale set around Christine Collins (Jolie) who desperatly tries to find her missing son. While at work, the police go to her and claims that they finally found her son. They arrive at the train station so she can finally confront Walter but there's a problem. The boy that the police found is not Christine's son. After desperate attempts of trying to convince her, they lock her away in a mental hospital, while Detective Ybarra (Michael Kelly) attempts to find the man who kidnapped her son and prove how corrupt the LAPD really is.
The film is not only a story of a kidnapped child, but also corruption. For me, the film mostly woked as a story of how corrupt and decievable some people actually are and what things they're willing to do to shut people up.It's an amazing true story that only Eastwood and Jolie couldve made so triumphant and effective.I only wish that the movie recieved better reviews than it got.I find nothing wrong about this movie except that Jolie being in the hospital is the weakest part of the story.Anyway, since this isn't my favorite Eastwood film, I can't quite give it my highest grade, but it's worthy enough to be called a triumph on many different levels.
Grade: A-
