Saw V

The dullest "Saw" in the drawer.
"Saw" is a horror franchise that I've liked ever since I could remember.None of the movies were masterpieces, but they would always keep me entertained with their inventive and sometimes gory traps and new characters that would outmatch the previous installments' main character. It's sad to say that "Saw V" doesn't have much of the 2.Detective Hoffman and Peter Strahm kept me interested, but the new Jigsaw survivors were unbelievably shallow and poor at acting. When one of the survivors said that she cheated and lied to people, one of them replied by saying "You cheat people, that's not nice". Really? I've seen some bad acting and I've heard some bad dialog in my life, but that was one of the most unnecessary lines to have ever been said in the "Saw" franchise."Saw 3D" had some bad acting, but at least the traps were more inventive and sometimes more violent than the traps in this movie.I enjoyed the pendelum trap in the beginning of "Saw V" , but they get kind of bloodless and goofy when the survivors try to escape from the traps they're put in.The trap that required the victims to saw their hands in half down the middle was pretty gruesome and effective, but that's only 1 of the 4 traps, and the other 3 simply don't have enough grislyness to be in a "Saw " movie. Then you get the story that ranks as the worst "Saw" story in the history of "Saw".It's not the actors or traps, but the flashbacks. We all get a couple of flashbacks in a "Saw" movie, but the ones in "Saw V" get WAY too repetitive and they leave the viewer wondering about the story involving Detective Hoffman or even the survivors who don't deserve to be in a "Hostel" movie let alone "Saw".The movie was directed by David Hackl, who worked as a production designer for the other "Saw" movies.I just can't give him any credit for this movie. While he didn't screw up the franchise just like "Halloween 3: Season of the Witch", he didn't do much for it either.Bad acting, only a couple of good traps, and enough flashbakcs to piss off anybody who gets pissed off by the use of flashbacks.Entertaining, but lacking in what "saw" fans are craving for.
