Planet Terror

A blast of gory goodness.
Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino teamed up to make a double feature movie known as "Grindhouse".If you don't know what a double feature is, just know that it's basically 2 movies in 1.The first movie is the one I'm reviewing for you right now.The second one was called "Death Proof", which I didn't like as much if you really want to know the truth. As for "Planet Terror", let's just say that fans of zombie movies will find themselves having a blast watching all the gore and violence happen on the screen. It's a VERY violent movie so anyone who has a weak stomach for gore should be warned that this is one of Rodriguez's most violent movies. It's not just the gore factor that makes "Planet Terror" one hell of a fun movie. It's mainly the actors who do such a good job at having fun with their characters.Rose Mcgowan plays her role as a stripper with a lot of energy and even manages to squeeze some laughs.Josh Brolin is sinister and entertaining as a doctor who's very suspicious of his wife played by Marley Shelton.Even Bruce Willis is in this movie! He doesn't get as much screen time as he usually does, but who could say that he's a bad actor? Is anyone willing to say that? That's what I thought.Freddy Rodriguez plays his role with fierce energy as Wray, and I think it's one of the very best performances of the movie. You get all of these great actors and characters, mix in some zombies and boatloads of gore, and the outcome is a ferioucisly entertaining zombie movie that really sets itself apart from other zombie flicks. This one is funny without trying to be too funny.Even some of the death scene are funny.I know there's nothing funny about a kid accidentally shooting himself, but the way the movie portrays that one scene alone really gets to me.God help me.Quentin Tarantino made "Death Proof" a real mixed bag for me.There was too much talking and it felt like I was waiting forever for the acton.Rodriguez does the opposite. He makes his characters interesting enough to give time for the zombies to show on screen, which is what a good zombie movie should do.
I advise you to see "Planet Terror" if you haven't already. It's everything a zombie movie should be: Gory, over-the-top, violent, well acted, and maybe even a little funny."Planet Terror" is one helluva movie!
Grade: A-
