Ninja Assassin

A bloody good time, if only the blood looked real and not too digital.
How many ninja movies are there? About 200? Maybe more? Given that hollywood has allowed millions of movies to be made, there's probably more than 1000 ninja movies. What I can't figure out is what the last ninja movie I saw before "Ninja Assassin".Now that's a challenge.Anyway, "Ninja Assassin" is a movie that won't disappoint fans of these type of movies. Those who like their ninja movies ultra-violent will find themselves wooting and cheering throughout the action sequences, for this is a VERY violent movie, one that wouldn't surprise me if it was originally rated NC-17 for extreme gore.If only some of the gore actually looked convincing and not digital.I've seen movies with digital blood that looked realistic."Ninja Assassin", however, is not that realistic with it's digital gore.Whenever a person is hit with ninja stars, blood spews from their bodies. This wouldn't be a problem with me if they tried using fake blood or if they at least tried to make the digital blood look more real instead of being more cartoonish.Besides from that, "Ninja Assassin" is a pretty damn good movie. The story revolving around a ninja assassin who betrays his family of assassins took my interest, the action scenes are very well-handled, and the stunts are awesome.Since it's a ninja movie, the most you can expect is some great stunts. The main character is played by a man called Rain.I'm sure that's not his birth name, but when it comes to acting, Rain is a born star. With that being said, "Ninja Assassin" is pretty well-acted for a movie revolved around slicing and dicing. This is the kind of movie that critics will diss for the fact that it relies on too much violence and doesn't pay attention to the story. If there's anthing or anyone that's not paying attention, it's the critics. There IS a story and it IS interesting. It's not the best, but it certaintly isn't the worst. As for the violence, it's bloody great entertainment.Seeing someone losing a limb or seeing some being sliced in half or into pieces always keeps me hooked into the action.Fake blood aside, I enjoyed "Ninja Assassin".It probably wouldn't hurt if someone came up an awesome idea for a sequel. It should be called something other than "Ninja Assassin 2".How about "Ninja Hitman"?
