Land of the Lost

A land lost in time.
"Land of the Lost" could've been a stupid sleezeball time travel comedy with good actors in a poorly made film.News flash: It's not bad.Not bad at all.I said to myself that the movie looked somewhat funny, but it didn't really grab my interest.I saw the movie on HBO instead of splurging money on it, which was a good choice.I'm not saying the movie isn't worth paying for to see, I'm just saying that the movie isn't exactly something you should go out to buy immediately.Rent it from Blockbuster or just watch it on HBO like I did.As for the movie itself, I have to admit that I had a pretty good time. Not a time that I'll be thinking about day after day, but it was worth the time I spent. The movie has it's funny and amusing moments. Some are funny enough to remember. The funniest parts come from a monkey-like character named Chaka. He's one of those movie characters that are just to irresistible to forget about.Take Alan from "The Hangover" for example.A scene alone that shows Chaka air humping is enough for me to say that the movie is funny in ways. Will Ferrell and Danny McBride definitely have better movies, such as "Step Brothers", "Tropic Thunder", and "Blades of Glory", but these 2 actors make funny characters nonetheless. Is it me or am I still stuck on the Chaka character? I'm sorry, I just think that this guy has got to be one of the most memorable and funniest monkey creatures that came out of Hollywood.Ferrell and McBride are definitely good here, but do they have what it takes to match the awesomeness of Chaka? I believe not.Hell, this guy should have his very own movie. Now that would be money well spent.Besides from the characters, "Land of the Lost" has a truly weird, but entertaining story.Don't go into this thinking it's going to be like "Journey to the Center of the Earth".Don't even think that this is a film suitable for kids.I know that some kids will want to see it because of the fact that there's a huge dinosaur in it, but that's the least of their parents concerns. Why do I care? I found "Land of the Lost" to be somewhat funny and surprisingly entertaining. You're probably better off with better movies like "Jurassic Park", but if you're looking for something with a bit more edge to it, then this might be your movie.
